SumUp for in-person donations
Connect SumUp and pair a SumUp Solo reader for in-person card donations.
SumUp for in-person donations
SumUp is the in-person payment path. It is configured from the Payments tab at /donations/settings and is separate from manually recorded cash or bank-transfer donations.
Connect SumUp
- Open
/donations/settingsand stay on the Payments tab. - In the SumUp card, enter the API key created in the SumUp dashboard under its developer/API-key settings.
- Choose Connect SumUp.
- Wait for the connected status and merchant information to appear.
The API key field is treated as a secret. Do not store the key in a document, screenshot, screen recording, or chat transcript.
Pair a reader
After the SumUp account is connected:
- On the SumUp Solo reader, open the API menu and display its pairing code.
- Enter the code in the reader-pairing field in moschee.io.
- Choose Pair reader.
- Confirm that the status changes to paired.
The dashboard shows whether a reader is paired. A connected SumUp account without a paired reader cannot complete the same in-person workflow as a paired account.
How in-person records appear
Successful reader payments are recorded with the in-person source. They can then appear in the donation overview, project transactions, analytics, and CSV data. Assigning the payment to the correct campaign is part of the in-person workflow; verify the project before accepting a campaign-specific gift.
Cash, bank transfers, and other gifts do not use SumUp. Record those from a project’s Transactions page using offline donation entry.
Disconnecting or replacing a reader
Use Disconnect only when the organization intends to remove the current SumUp connection. Reconnect the intended account and pair the intended reader afterward. Review the provider dashboard if the account or reader status is unclear.
Troubleshooting
- An invalid API key keeps the account disconnected; create or copy the key again from SumUp.
- A connected account with an unpaired reader needs a fresh Solo pairing code.
- Do not confuse the merchant code with the pairing code.
- If a payment is not visible, compare the provider transaction with the project transaction list and note the time and status.
