Donation setup

Configure the organization-level payment, receipt, giving, display, and notification settings.

Donation setup

Open /donations/settings in the dashboard. The page is organized into five tabs. Save each setting and verify the public page after changing a value.

Before you begin

  • Confirm that the correct organization is active in the dashboard.
  • Make sure the Donations area is available to your organization and user role.
  • Prepare the legal and payout information required by the payment provider.
  • Decide whether your organization issues donation receipts and which giving categories it wants to offer.

Settings tabs

TabWhat it controls
PaymentsStripe Connect, Stripe status, payouts, reconciliation, and the SumUp connection.
Receipts & taxWhether the organization issues donation receipts and the information printed on them.
ZakatThe public giving-type selector and the Nisab and Zakat al-Fitr values used by the calculators.
DisplayThe donation page language, social links, and the organization-wide leaderboard toggle.
NotificationsConfirmation emails for recurring renewals. Failed-payment and cancellation notices are sent regardless of this renewal toggle.

The tabs are deep-linkable. The default payment tab is /donations/settings; other tabs use ?tab=receipts, ?tab=zakat, ?tab=display, or ?tab=notifications.

Choose the default donor language from German, English, Arabic, French, or Turkish. Donors can change the language on the public donation and portal pages. Add only valid links for the social networks you want to show: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, YouTube, TikTok, and X. An empty field hides that network.

Leaderboards

The organization-wide leaderboard is controlled here. A project has its own leaderboard setting as well. A leaderboard is opt-in, and anonymous donations are not listed. Enabling the organization setting alone does not make every project display a ranking; the relevant block or project setting must also be enabled.

Verify the result

After setup:

  1. Open the public /donations page.
  2. Open one project page and confirm its title, goal, content, and donation options.
  3. Check the selected language and social links.
  4. Complete a controlled test payment if the organization is ready to accept real donations.
  5. Confirm that the donation appears in /donations and that the donor receives the expected confirmation.

If a setting loads indefinitely, reports an error, or does not appear publicly, record the organization, time, tab, and exact error before contacting support. Do not paste payment-provider secrets into a support message.
