Telegram integration
Connect moschee.io to Telegram to post news and announcements automatically to your channel.
Prerequisites
- Telegram account
- Telegram channel or group
- Admin rights in the channel
Create a Telegram bot
Step 1: Contact BotFather
- Open Telegram.
- Search for
@BotFather. - Start a conversation.
Step 2: Create a new bot
- Send
/newbot. - Enter a name (e.g., "My Mosque Bot").
- Enter a username (must end with
bot). - You’ll receive a Bot Token.
Keep the Bot Token safe—don’t share it.
Step 3: Add the bot to your channel
- Open your Telegram channel.
- Go to channel settings.
- Add the bot as an administrator.
- Give the bot permission to send messages.
Configure in moschee.io
Enter the Bot Token
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Telegram.
- Paste the Bot Token.
- Click Connect.
Pick the channel
Once the bot is an administrator in your channel, the channel appears automatically in the destination dropdown — under Settings > Integrations > Telegram > Templates and in the livestream notification settings.
If it isn't there yet:
- Click Fetch to look again.
- Or type
@channelname(public channels) or the numeric ID-100…(private channels) into Add channel or group and click Add.
Test it
- Select the channel from the dropdown.
- Click Test.
- A test message is sent to your channel.
- If successful: click Save.
Automatic messages
New news posts
- Enable Send news automatically
- Each new news item triggers a message
New events
- Enable Send events automatically
- New events are announced in the channel
Daily prayer times
- Enable Daily prayer times
- Choose the time
- Prayer times are posted every day
Message templates
Customize templates
- Go to Settings > Telegram > Templates
- Edit the templates
- Use placeholders
Available placeholders
For news:
{title}– News title{excerpt}– Summary{link}– Link to the news
For events:
{title}– Event title{date}– Date{time}– Time{location}– Location
For prayer times:
{date}– Current date{fajr}– Fajr time{sunrise}– Sunrise{dhuhr}– Dhuhr time{asr}– Asr time{maghrib}– Maghrib time{isha}– Isha time

Send a message
In addition to automatic posts, you can send manually:
- Go to Settings > Telegram
- Click Send message
- Write your message
- Click Send
