Connect your own domain

Use your own domain (e.g., www.my-mosque.com) instead of the moschee.io subdomain.

Requirements

• Page Builder feature enabled
• A registered domain
• Access to your domain’s DNS settings

Default domain

Without configuration your site is available via a subdomain:

your-mosque.moschee.io

Connect a custom domain

Step 1: Add the domain

1. Go to Settings > Domain
2. Click Add custom domain
3. Enter your domain (e.g., www.my-mosque.com)

Step 2: Configure DNS

You’ll receive DNS records to add at your provider.

CNAME record (recommended for subdomains like www)

Type:   CNAME
Name:   www
Value:  custom.moschee.io

A record (for root domain)

Type:   A
Name:   @
Value:  [IP address shown]

Step 3: Verify

1. After DNS setup, click Verify
2. moschee.io checks the DNS records
3. On success, an SSL certificate is issued

Common providers

Example: IONOS

1. Log in to IONOS
2. Go to Domains & SSL
3. Choose your domain
4. Click DNS
5. Add the CNAME record

SSL certificate

Automatic

moschee.io automatically provides a free SSL certificate:

• Let’s Encrypt certificate
• Auto-renewal
• HTTPS encryption

Activation time

After successful verification:

• Certificate is issued within minutes
• HTTPS turns on automatically
• HTTP is redirected to HTTPS

Redirects

www to non-www (or vice versa)

Choose your preferred canonical version:

• www.my-mosque.com → my-mosque.com
• my-mosque.com → www.my-mosque.com

Redirect old domain

If you’re switching from another domain:

1. Set a 301 redirect with your old provider
2. All old URLs forward to the new domain

Troubleshooting

Domain not verified

1. Double-check DNS records
2. Wait up to 48 hours
3. Check with a DNS checker (e.g., dnschecker.org)

SSL errors

1. Ensure the domain is verified
2. Wait a few minutes after verification
3. Contact support if it persists

Domain already in use

Each domain can only be connected once. Contact support for assistance.

Remove a domain

If you want to change domains:

1. Go to Settings > Domain
2. Click Remove domain
3. The site becomes available via the moschee.io subdomain again
